Rotary Chuck Cappers
Provides Reliable, Accurate & High-Performance Capping
The New England Machinery Rotary Chuck Capper delivers reliable, high-speed capping performance with precision torque control and gentle container handling. Unlike in-line cappers, the NEM Rotary Capper positively places each cap onto the container and tightens it to the required applied torque for consistent, accurate sealing.
Available in configurations from 3 to 30 heads, this capper achieves some of the highest speeds in the industry, capable of handling up to 750 containers per minute depending on configuration and container size.
With a proven design and unmatched flexibility, this Rotary Chuck Capper ensures smooth operation, repeatable torque control, and minimal wear, making it the trusted choice for closing and capping applications across industries.
How It Works
NEM’s Rotary Chuck Capper operates in continuous motion, precisely applying and tightening caps with repeatable accuracy.
- Cap Sorting & Feeding: Caps are fed through a hopper and elevator system designed for easy visibility and self-sorting. Cleated belts catch caps in the correct orientation for delivery of caps to the chucks.
- Container Handling: This machine was designed to synchronize container and cap movement to maintain control throughout the process and prevent scuffing or slippage..
- Cap Placement & Torque Application: Pneumatic chucks pick up each cap, place it onto the container, and apply the required torque. This provides smooth, safe cap handling without marring or burning.
- Precision Torque Control: NEM’s electronic torque controller allows repeatable torque settings without tools. Operators can fine-tune torque levels via the HMI, ensuring accurate applied torque for various cap types, including child-resistant, tamper-evident, flip-top caps, and more.
- Servo Option Available: For enhanced performance, cappers can be equipped with a servo motor control system, offering positive applied torque control through a dial-in interface with closed-loop feedback.
The result is consistent torque, gentle handling, and reliable sealing performance on every container.

Frequently Asked Questions About NEM’s Rotary Chuck Capper
What’s the difference between rotary and inline cappers?
NEM Rotary Cappers provide controlled torque, higher efficiency, and better consistency than inline cappers. Inline systems are cheaper but typically deliver only 70–80% efficiency and require constant operator oversight.
What types of caps can the NEM Rotary Capper handle?
The system can handle CT, CR, TE, flip-top, sports, and specialty caps.
How fast can it run?
Depending on the configuration and container type, Rotary Cappers can run from 3 to 750 containers per minute.
Is the servo motor option necessary?
It’s optional. The servo version provides enhanced torque precision and real-time feedback through the HMI, but the standard pneumatic model already delivers accurate, repeatable torque control. Servo also allows for automatic changeovers.
What industries use Rotary Cappers?
The Rotary Capper serves a wide range of industries including food, chemicals, personal care, nutraceuticals, and protein or spice packaging — any container application requiring precise capping.
